An Albanese Labor Government will commit $86,000 towards upgrades at Khalsa Shaouni, Plumpton.
This funding will go towards necessary works for a new car park, which will improve access to the community hall currently under construction at the site.
The new hall will be used for community activities and serve as a meeting place for the local Sikh community in Plumpton and surrounds.
Federal Labor’s announcement comes after three years during which the local Sikh volunteers at Khalsa Shaouni have stepped up continuously to help those in need.
This community came together to prepare meals for those most affected during the recent bushfires in Victoria and NSW.
And during the COVID-19 pandemic, more than 165,000 meals and thousands of grocery hampers were supplied to people in self-isolation by the Khalsa Shaouni volunteers.
This new funding will enable the local Sikh community to continue to deliver religious ceremonies, provide support to the community and host events that bring us together.
Only an Albanese Labor Government will deliver for multicultural communities across Australia.
