The Federal Infrastructure Review was handed down.
The Albanese Labor Government remains committed to kickstarting the Western Freeway Upgrade between Melton and Caroline Springs with the $20 million business case being delivered in partnership with the Victorian Labor Government.
It became clear that during their decade in office, the Liberals announced hundreds of projects that were underfunded and that they never had any intention of delivering.
One of these zombie projects was a media release put out by the Liberals on the eve of the 2019 Election for road upgrades at the M80 Ring Road end of the Freeway.
In the years following that bogus announcement they made no progress to deliver it. No money was spent, no works were started, and no jobs were created.
This is an entirely different project from the business case to kickstart the Western Freeway Upgrade that is currently being worked on.
Our project is a comprehensive business case to upgrade the Freeway between Melton and Caroline Springs. It’s a project that will get people home to their families quicker and safer, and will create a lasting legacy for our community.
And it’s a project backed in by the Victorian Government, who matched the Albanese Government’s investment.
The $20 million commitment to kickstart the Western Freeway Upgrade is already underway with community consultation – have your say before it closes on Sunday 3 December: https://engage.vic.gov.au/wfu
Sam Rae MP said “our community’s priority is the $20 million business case investment to kickstart the Western Freeway Upgrade between Melton and Caroline Springs being delivered in partnership by the Albanese and Allan Labor Governments.”
“Consultation is open for the community to have their say. This project will deliver a quicker and safer commute for tens of thousands of locals.”
