Christmas has arrived for families and businesses in Sunbury and Diggers Rest who will soon be able to upgrade to a full-fibre broadband connection.
This is thanks to the Albanese Labor Government’s $2.4 billion investment to expand full-fibre access to an additional 1.5 million premises by the end of 2025.
The copper broadband network rolled out under the previous Federal Government is slower, less reliable, more expensive to maintain and more likely to experience prolonged faults.
In contrast, world-class fibre broadband means faster upload and download speeds, and a more reliable connection for residents and small businesses.
Federal Member for Hawke Sam Rae said “Santa has come early for Sunbury and Diggers Rest locals who need reliable and fast internet.”
“This investment is all about transforming Australia. It’ll boost productivity and inject much-needed activity into our local economy while making sure families can enjoy fast broadband.”
An upgrade will be available on-demand where an eligible household or business takes out a higher speed plan, with no upfront installation cost.
